Boston Welcomes Back BBMAK
Date: April 16, 2026
Location: Boston, MA
Last week, the British trio - BBMAK returned to Boston and performed a sold out show at the City Winery on a weeknight! The last time BBMAK performed at City Winery was in 2024. Dream Street rejoined them as their opening act. The band previously opened for BBMAK in Connecticut last June. The entire show lasted almost two and a half hours, filled with beautiful music and artist-fan bonding.
City Winery Boston
City Winery concerts are always entertaining because the acoustics are excellent. You also get to eat dinner with the show. Because the venue is relatively small and enclosed, the connection with the artist and the audience is more intimate. The only challenge of City Winery is you can’t really dance and move around much because the tables and chairs are placed closed together. Also making sure you close your tab with the server before the show ends!
I recently saw LFO and Trevor Penick perform there back in February.
VIP with BBMAK
Last July, I really enjoyed the BBMAK “Bullet Train” VIP at their Rhode Island Pop2000 concert. Compared to other boyband VIPs, BBMAK’s VIP definitely makes your money and time worthwhile. So I decided to do it again! You can read more details on Boyband VIP offerings here.
The first benefit of “Bullet Train” VIP is I got to spend time chatting with Mark, Christian and Ste prior to the “Unpredictable, Unplugged and Up Close” VIP event. Then, join the regular VIPers and watch BBMAK perform an acoustic version of their song, “Wolves”. BBMAK also answered questions from us fans and took pictures. We also received a signed BBMAK photo.
The third benefit is the “Falling Up Champagne”. After the regular VIPers leave, the upgraded VIPers and I join BBMAK in their dressing room and drink champagne in BBMAK-personalized tumblers. We also get to chat with them more and take individual selfies with Mark, Christian and Ste. The guys are truly down to earth and humbled and easy to talk to. Not to mention, really friendly and very funny. It does not feel like you are meeting a bunch of celebrity elites and more like hanging out with your buddies.
After the show, the fourth benefit is I got to meet BBMAK in their dressing room again, spend more time with them and celebrate the success of the show. And take another group selfie! Finally, I received a small clear concert bag and a BBMAK-scented candle (which definitely smells like men’s cologne!).
Dream Street
At 7:30 pm, Dream Street kicked off the show with “I Say Yeah” and “They Don’t Understand”. Accompanied by their box drummer, Greg Raposo and Matt Balinger continued to build on the crowd’s excitement with “Feel The Rain”. Their setlist also included “You’re Taking Me Over” and my favorite song, “Sugar Rush”.
Compared to their last show in Fairfield, Dream Street improved their performance tremendously. Matt and Greg definitely displayed more confidence particularly with Matt’s vocals and Greg’s guitar playing. Matt also engages the audience to sing along and wave their cell phone lights. They fittingly closed the show with their major hit, “It Happens Everytime”.
Overall, Dream Street delivered an excellent performance. Though, I did express to Matt and Greg that they need to add “Someone to Hold Me Tonight” to future shows. Then they started singing the song to me during the post-show meet and greet.
Even though the Dream Street guys are notably younger than BBMAK, Dream Street are a fitting opening act for them. Both groups came out at around the same time at the heigh of MTV, TRL and Radio Disney and share similar music styles.
I hope one day, Frankie Galasso and Jesse McCartney will join Greg and Matt again onstage.
BBMAK
BBMAK hit the stage at around 8:20 pm, exciting the crowd with “Get You Through The Night”.
Their non-stop show comprised a mixture of up-tempo songs, ballads, and acoustic songs from all three of their studio albums: Sooner or Later, Into Your Head and Powerstation. The robust setlist included: “Bullet Train”, “Out Of My Heart/Into Your Head”, “Get You Through The Night”, “I’m Not In Love”, “Ghost of You and Me”, “Sympathy”, “Collide”, and “Still On Your Side”.
The highlighted performances were definitely their ballads “I Can Tell” and “UnCivil War”. I was also thrilled that they sang “Miss You More”, a deep cut from their “Lost Tapes” album and from the Princess Diaries soundtrack.
My ultimate favorite performance of the night was definitely “More Than Words”, their cover of the Xtreme song. I loved how they stripped the song down to an acoustic set with just Ste playing the guitar and their vocals. It felt truly intimate. I was so impressed by Mark’s vocals especially when he hits the high notes towards the ends. He also impressively hit the high notes during “Unpredictable”. Through their performances, I can tell the guys worked really hard to make sure they deliver a fantastic and effortless show.
BBMAK fittingly closed out the night with their debut single “Back Here”. Mark began the song by inviting the audience to sing along acapella and Christian and Ste joined in. Despite the song being over 25 years old, “Back Here” still brings chills and enthusiasm. And leaves the audience with many positive feelings.
Closing Thoughts
This concert was undeniably the longest BBMAK concert I’ve ever been to. They played almost their entire catalogue. And I wished the concert continued for another few hours! BBMAK is one of those bands that I would see again and again. Christian, Mark and Ste are not only talented musicians, but also nice guys too. They are thankful and appreciate the fans that showed up and their behind the scenes crew. And I’m excited to see them this summer on the Pop2000 tour.
