NKOTB, Boyz II Men & 98 Degrees - The Package Tour
I was absolutely ecstatic when New Kids On The Block announced the 2013 Package Tour with Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees. I am a big fan of 98 Degrees and never got to see them during the late 1990s/early 2000s. This was my first 98 degrees and Boyz II Men concert and second NKOTB concert. The first NKOTB concert was the 2008 Reunion Tour.
The 2013 Package Tour was also my second major concert I went to by myself. I still had an absolute blast! I did not feel lonely at all because I was so engrossed by the performances. Also the Garden was filled end to end with fans.
Last Minute Tickets
I actually bought the tickets 3-4 days before the concert. At first, I was on the fence about going. The tickets were expensive. I was concerned the tickets would put a hole in my budget for the month. At the time, I was working at a non-profit organization that wasn’t paying well. But then I realized I didn’t want to sit at home the night of the concert, totally regretting not being there. So what the heck?!
The Show
Boyz II Men
Boyz II Men opened up the concert . I honestly don’t remember their performance as it was all a blur. At the time, I wasn’t a big fan of Boyz II Men . I do recall Boyz II Men only performed for 30 minutes and Shawn talked a lot. . For the record, I love Boyz II Men now and have gone to two Boyz II Men concerts since the Package Tour.
98 Degrees
Of course, I embellished the moment 98 Degrees graced the stage. Jeff Timmons is my man! They opened up with their greatest hit, “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche).” Their setlist included their other major songs, “I Do (Cherish You)”and “The Hardest Thing”. I was jealous of the lucky fans who got to go up the stage and be serenaded by 98 Degrees. I would have my serenading moments with 98 Degrees in future concerts.
Though the group is known for their ballads, my favorite performance was their upbeat song, “Girls Night Out” off their album 2.0. The song had such a dynamic beat and perfectly fit the atmosphere of the audience at the TD Garden. During the song, Jeff, Nick, Drew and Justin definitely fed into the energy of the crowd as they moved around the stage. Their beautiful voices definitely carried through the entire stadium.
This was the first time 98 Degrees had toured together as a group in a little more than 10 years. I could tell 98 Degrees were grateful for the fans and the fact that NKOTB invited them and Boyz II Men to tour together.
New Kids On The Block
Finally, NKOTB graced the stage. And I’m not going to lie. I screamed and freaked out! They opened up with their songs “We Own Tonight” and “Block Party” from their newly released album, “10”. Then they performed “Summertime” and “Right Stuff” which automatically got me dancing on my feet. Yes I did do the Oh Oh dance!
I most enjoyed the part when they slowed down and did a medley of “I Remember When”, “Tender Love” and "Baby I Believe In You”. And of course, when they sang “Didn’t I Blow Your Mind”, "Valentine Girl”, and “Please Don’t Go Girl”. Those songs still touch my heart and hit the right spot.
My other favorite part was when the New Kids sang “Tonight”. They made their way into the audience and greeted the fans as they effortlessly sang the song. I was lucky enough to get a close up of Jordan!
They concluded the show fittingly with “I’ll Be Loving You Forever” and “Hangin’ Tough”. Similar to the Reunion Tour, NKOTB put so much energy and love on stage.
Overall, I savored every minute of the concert. I am so glad these three groups decided to tour together. And I knew there would be more future shows for me in store with 98 Degrees, NKOTB and Boyz II Men.
I totally recommend seeing any of these groups live in concert!
