BBMak Back In Boston

Location: Boston, MA

Date: November 19, 2024

BBMAK returned to Boston’s City Winery on the last week prior to Thanksgiving. They previously performed at City Winery in 2018.  This was a full BBMAK show. Previously, I saw them earlier at the Pop2000 tour in June.

VIP with BBMAK

If you are a BBMAK fan, I highly recommend doing a VIP with BBMAK. It’s definitely worth every penny. BBMAK offers several VIP packages. This time round, I opted for the Falling Up Champagne Cheers VIP package.

Prior to the main show, VIP fans enter the venue early. BBMAK, then, performed an acoustic version of “Out Of My Heart/Into Your Head”. They would also answer any questions any fans may have.

Some fun facts I learned about BBMAK during Q &A:

  • BBMAK doesn't get tired of singing the same songs over and over again

  • They admitted they got chills when they heard Back Here for the first time. They couldn’t believe it was their song and will be their first single

  • BBMAK never fought over who gets the solos

  • The “Out of My Heart” Video was shot on the set of Dawson’s Creek. And it was freezing cold!

After Q&A, each VIP gets to take a photo with BBMAK.

Finally, we poured and toasted the champagne. Ste actually opened the bottle and I got to keep that cork! Ste also gave a toast and thanked the fans. We spent the rest of the hour just chilling and chatting and drinking wine with Ste, Mark and Christian. They are definitely Brits who love their alcohol. They would not stop pouring the drinks.

In all seriousness, it was lovely to just hangout with the boys and get to know them better. And they get to know us better. I told Ste about this blog and why I started it.

We also each got an autographed photo from the guys as well as a BBMAK tumblr. Also, I splurged on additional  merchandise including a T-shirt and buttons.

The Main Event

My friends and I were lucky enough to score front row seats to the show. Getting a full view of BBMAK was definitely a perk.

At 8 pm, BBMAK came on the stage, opening the show with “Out of My Heart/Into Your Head”. The setlist was a mixture of their albums “Sooner or Later”, “Out of My Heart” and “Powerstation”. The boys performed songs like “Still On Your Side”, “I Can Tell”, “Next Time”, “Sympathy”, “Bullet Train”, “Can’t Say”, “Uncivil War”, “So Faraway”, “Unpredictable”, “Get You Through The Night” and “Ghost of You and Me”. A great balance between the upbeat songs and the ballads. Of course, they performed their rendition of Xtreme’s “More Than Words”. A constant crowd pleaser.

They closed the show with “Back Here” which felt like a special celebration. Mark rallies up the crowd to sing the chorus with BBMAK before actually performing the song. Can’t believe “Back Here” was released 25 years ago!

This is the first concert where I have a  hard time picking a specific favorite performance. Each song provoked nostalgia, emotions and passion. Every performance was flawless. Christian, Mark and Ste’s vocals and talents shined throughout the concert. Moreover, BBMAK together delivered beautiful harmonies. It’s always great to see Mark playing his shaker while Christian and Ste play their guitars. Though I hope one day, he plays the bagpipes live.

If I had to choose, the most highlighted performance is the mash up of their new song “Collide” and “Miss You More” from their “Lost Tapes” album. Christian’s vocal range really stood out during the song. Also with BBMAK choosing to perform the song acoustic, you can really hear their voices blending well. Also there was a seamless transition between the two songs.

Moreover, because City Winery is a significantly small venue, the show was intimate and the acoustics were excellent.

Also, BBMak’s genuine friendship and camaraderie between the three guys enhances their performances.  Furthermore,  BBMAK definitely appreciates the fans that show up for them. And want to make sure they deliver a great show. There was never a dull moment.

I only wished the show lasted longer!
