BBMAK Back Here Tour

I am a huge BBMAK fan, but I never got to see them perform live during their height of success in the 2000s. So I was so excited when they announced their US reunion tour in 2019 and one of their stops was Boston! I knew I had to be there.
The Venue

The show took place at the City Winery in the North End neighborhood of Boston. It was close to where I was working at the time so I could just walk up there. City Winery’s concert venue is an interesting set up with long dining tables and chairs to the side. You are basically watching the concert from a side view. Nevertheless,  the acoustics still sounded great and I could see BBMAK in full view while enjoying some food and wine! I actually found the ambiance with the lights dimmed  quite intimate.

VIP

Before the concert, I arrived at the venue early to watch BBMAK’s soundcheck. The boys practiced  their new song, Bullet Train and the classic one, Back Here. After 20 years, I can say they still sounded amazing as if  they never left! Their voices are as beautiful as their personalities!

After soundcheck, each fan had the opportunity to talk with Mark, Christian and Ste and get their autographs signed. Those British Blokes were so friendly and kind to me and the other fans! And extremely handsome in person too. BBMAK were genuinely happy to meet their fans considering they have not been back in the States in such a long time. I got to hug and squeeze all three of them. I expressed my thanks to the lads for coming back into my life.  We took a group picture. I was especially glad to meet Christian because he was my favorite, which I told him directly! He was flattered. I only wanted to put my arms around him as you can see in this picture. Which did throw Mark off a bit but he was a total good sport!

The Concert

During the concert, BBMAK performed a majority of their classic hits including “Still On Your Side”, “Next Time” (per my request), and “Out of My Heart Into Your Head”. They also performed songs from their new album, Powerstation such as “Uncivil War” and “Wolves”.  Christian and Ste played their guitars with Mark occasionally playing his shaker (a precious item!).  Of course, BBMAK saved “Back Here” till the very end. My favorite performance, though, is of their ballad, “I Can Tell”. Christian’s vocals on that  song were so beautiful and with Mark and Ste singing the background vocals definitely moved my soul.

My friends and I stayed after the concert hoping to meet BBMAK again. Fortunately, Mark and Ste came out and chatted with us and took some pictures. Christian had to help with the concert set up. Overall, I truly enjoyed the BBMAK concert and I hope to go to more in the future!
